Our story began in 2018 with Andy’s bold declaration: “I want to retire.” Angela, ever practical, replied, “And do what?” With absolute confidence, Andy answered: “Faff about and fish.”

After Angela recovered from the mild trauma of hearing this retirement strategy, her imagination kicked into gear, and the idea of moving north and creating a retreat was born. For years, the Highlands became our home and our sanctuary — a place where people could pause, breathe, slow down, and reconnect with themselves amongst wild landscapes, open skies, and endless cups of tea. It became a chapter filled with laughter, healing, fishing rods, and meaningful conversations.

But life evolves, and so do dreams………………………………………………..

Our next chapter now takes us to Cumbria and the Borders, where we’re shifting away from accommodation and returning to what has always sat at the heart of everything we do: wellbeing, connection, and helping people find space to restore themselves.

The wild northern landscapes still inspire us deeply. Andy continues to find peace beside rivers and lochs, following a lifelong love of fishing rooted in generations of Highland family history. Angela brings over 20 years of experience as a mental health practitioner, EMDR therapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, certified Personal Coach, and transformational change specialist — supporting people through some of life’s biggest challenges and transitions.

Together, we’re creating something a little different now. Less about rooms and reservations, and more about wellbeing, nature, calm, and meaningful support. We want to help people reconnect, not only with nature, but with themselves.

Whether that’s through therapeutic support, coaching, restorative experiences, or simply encouraging people to slow down for a while, our vision remains the same: creating spaces where people can breathe more deeply, live more gently, and discover that perhaps a little “faffing about” is actually very good for the soul.

Charities and Good Causes - We’re passionate about supporting local causes and giving back to the community wherever we can. In 2023, we proudly reached our goal of raising £2,000 for Walking With The Wounded, a military charity helping veterans transition back into work. In 2024, our focus shifted closer to home—we raised £1,000 to purchase an additional defibrillator for Blairmore, a busy walking area with limited emergency provisions. As of August 2024, we’re thrilled to have achieved this goal and will continue fundraising to replace defibrillator pads as they expire. We’re also raising funds to have the beach steps replaced in Oldshoremore in summer 2026.

Our Vision

To create a space where people can rediscover balance, reconnect with themselves and nature, and embrace a calmer, more meaningful way of living — offering a restorative pause from the noise and demands of modern life. In the heart of Cumbria and the wild northern landscapes we love, our vision is to support wellbeing through connection, compassion, nature, and the simple joy of slowing down.

Our Values (with the same dash of humour that keeps us grounded)

Genuine - We keep things real. No guru energy, no perfectly curated wellness nonsense, and absolutely no pressure to “transform” yourself by sunrise. We believe people heal and grow best when they feel safe to simply be themselves — messy bits, tired bits, laughter, tears, and all.

Freedom - This whole journey began with Andy wanting to “faff about and fish,” and honestly, there’s wisdom in that. We believe wellbeing should feel freeing, not restrictive. Whether your version of freedom is walking in the fells, sitting quietly with a coffee, wild swimming, journaling, therapy, fishing, or doing absolutely nothing for once — we’re here for it.

Nature - Nature does a remarkable job of reminding us what actually matters. The lakes, fells, forests, rivers, and open skies of Cumbria have a way of quietening busy minds and restoring tired souls. Sometimes wellbeing starts with nothing more complicated than fresh air, muddy boots, and remembering to look up from your phone occasionally.

Fun - Wellbeing doesn’t have to be serious all the time. In fact, laughter is probably one of the most underrated forms of therapy. We believe joy matters. So whether it’s sharing stories, laughing at life’s chaos, celebrating small wins, or embracing the occasional badly planned adventure, fun is very much part of the process.

Resilience - Life has a habit of throwing unexpected curveballs, and we know that firsthand. Our aim is not to help people become perfect, but to help them feel stronger, steadier, and more connected to themselves when life feels overwhelming. Think of us as supportive companions rather than polished wellness experts on mountaintops.

Collaboration - We believe healing and growth happen through connection. Through supportive conversations, shared experiences, community, kindness, and the occasional cup of tea, people remind each other they’re not alone. Together is always easier than alone.

Accessibility - We believe wellbeing should feel welcoming and accessible, not exclusive or intimidating. You don’t need expensive retreats, matching linen outfits, or a perfectly curated life to deserve rest, support, and peace. Just come as you are.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: people need spaces where they can slow down, breathe deeply, reconnect, and remember that life is not meant to be lived at full speed all the time.

And if a little “faffing about” happens along the way, even better.
